The PSP phone finally arrives - Though it’s not really the PSP phone

The Hurbo A718 PSP phone is actually a not too bad device, with a two-way sliding pad, one way for an alphanumeric keypad and another for gaming keys, in a similar way to the much-prophesised PSP Phone.

The phone also has a two megapixel camera, and support for SD cards to add to its internal hard drive, though it’s unknown how big this is.

G4TV is officially out of ideas

With their latest brilliant decision to "re-air" old shows such as Filter, Judgment Day, Arena, Portal, Cheat and Cinematech, G4TV looks to have simply given up on putting quality gaming programs on TV. Sarcastic Gamer has seen enough.

From the article: "G4 needs more original content that is focused on videogames, but this latest idea seems like a haphazard way to do it. If the network does add more videogame programming, they need to make sure they don’t saturate the lineup with a 12-hour block of one or two shows. G4 also needs to ensure they only add high-quality programming. In other words, no more Arena. However, based on the six hours of coverage given to the Halo 3 launch, I don’t have much faith in G4’s ability to come up with quality videogame programming."

Gizmodo reports:

”Not only is Gizmondo coming back, Carl Freer says you can expect to see a new version of the handheld console by the end of the year—this time without the whole defrauding investors and crashing Ferraris schtick, supposedly.

In an interview in the Gizmondo forums, Freer claimed that, "There is still incredible value in the Gizmondo. And with the enhancements we’re adding… we feel it’s only the beginning of where we can go with the product."

Gizmondo version 2.0 will include a new graphics chip, Windows CE 6.0 (which comes with "a lot of ‘new’ goodies," Freer says), and a bunch of original content to be downloaded off the gizmondo.com website.”

Zune Reaches 2m Sales; Flat Versus iPod

Microsoft has revealed selling 2 million of it’s Zune MP3 players since launching November 2006, revealing relatively flat growth. Although the company promised and slightly exceeded a target for it’s first 1 million sales between launch and by June 2007, it has remained silent on the sales data for nearly a year.

Apple’s iPod, in only it’s latest quarter, sold 10.6 million players. These sales for one quarter are more than 5 times the cumulative sales of Zune since launch.

Critics have sometimes attributed Zune’s lack of success to relatively slow development. Zune has typically obtained key features later than iPod.

Cellphone concept with detachable screen seems doable

A Japan-based designer known as Marimo-san is thinking way out of the box with his latest cellphone concept design, featuring a mechanism that allows for a detachable screen. The screen in this cellphone concept design can be removed so the user can enjoy video calls on the go. And aside from that, the slot for the screen should also accept other add-ons such as a widescreen display and a dual screen video viewer, to name a few, turning the cellphone into a number of new devices at any given time.
