Nintendo uses celebs to appeal to female gamers

Arstechnica reports: "With the current generation of handhelds and consoles, Nintendo has proven that there is one thing it can do better then the competition: appeal to the non-gamer crowd. And the company is going to continue its push to attract that audience with a series of upcoming commercials featuring some notable celebrities."

Disney’s Xbox Live-style DGamer service is live

Disney’s finally launched its online social gaming initiative DGamer. Designed initially for DS and PC titles but planned for all platforms that Disney can get access to, DGamer is the equivalent of Xbox Live but shaped specifically for Disney games.

DGamer Q&A (IGN)

Via IGN: "Earlier today, Disney Interactive Studios revealed that its DGamer service for the Nintendo DS and PC has gone live. This service, which will be a part of each Nintendo DS game Disney Interactive Studios publishes from this day forward, brings forth some very cool, interactive, online features: achievements, live chat with other DGamer users, and personal customizations and unlockables based upon the game they’re playing.

We had the opportunity to throw a few questions towards Mark McArthur, development director at Fall Line Studios to find out more about the DGamer service."

Play Classic SNES Games On Your DS!

Super Nintendo or more commonly known as SNES was known as part of the golden years of gaming. Nintendo reigned as the dominating force in the video gaming world and many great games were created for the Super Entertainment System. Thanks to the power of emulators and the power of a little cart called the M3 DS you can now play your favorite SNES games right on your DS.

For people who are new to emulation, emulation has been around for a very long time. Basically it consists of a program that emulates the hardware of something, say the Super Nintendo, on another system so that you can play game from the emulated system. Now there can be a lot written about emulation, which Nintendo Fanalliance will cover at a future date, but for purposes of this article Nintendo Fanalliance are going to focus mainly on emulating the Super Nintendo Hardware on the Nintendo DS.

Nintendo has sent out a press release for the month of April, which details the 3 million mark of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the United States, reports that Mario Kart Wii was the second best selling title of the month, and more.

IGN: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia First Look

Gamers all knew it was coming, but that didn’t taint the experience one bit. The third Castlevania DS has arrived, and it’s just as beautiful, innovative, yet classically grounded as they had hoped. It didn’t matter that Konami limited the game to eyes-on only and it’s apparent that IGN weren’t the only people out there that thought the Castlevania series needed a gentle nudge in the butt to move away from its all-too familiar footing. The series isn’t in need of a total redesign, but Order of Ecclesia may be exactly what the doctored ordered to complete the DS trilogy, as it mixes just enough old with a lot of new.
