Reuters: Scientists develop new type of memory circuit - ‘Could lead to a computer you never have to boot up’

It took about 40 years to find it, but scientists at Hewlett-Packard said on Wednesday they discovered a fourth basic type of electrical circuit that could lead to a computer you never have to boot up.

The finding proves what until now had only been theory — but could save millions from the tedium of waiting for a computer to find its "place," the researchers said.

Basic electronics theory teaches that there are three fundamental elements of a passive circuit — resistors, capacitors and inductors.

GTA 4’s Production Budget Estimated at $100M

Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies revealed in an interview that the recently released Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, X360) had a budget of roughly $100 million, marking the title as the most costly development of any game to date.

MADD Protests GTA IV Over Drunk Driving

Riding the wave of controversy, Mothers Against Drunk Driving marks the latest organization to protest yesterday’s release of Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, X360).

Specifically, the group takes issue with "a game module where players have to drive drunk" as "drunk driving is a choice, a violent crime…not a game."

GTA IV smashes day one sales record

Data obtained by MCV from official UK industry monitor ChartTrack shows that Rockstar’s GTA IV has become the fastest selling game ever in a 24 hour period.

The figures – based on EPoS sales data and estimated retail transactions – show that total online and High Street sales for the game hit 609,000 in one day.

In addition, Xbox 360 narrowly nudged out PS3 in the ‘battle of the consoles’.

335,000 copies were sold on Microsoft’s machine whilst 274,000 copies were sold for PS3 yesterday.

Team Fortress 2 update released; free weekend will begin on Friday

The long-awaited PC update to Valve’s Team Fortress 2 has been released.

Players looking forward to earning Medic achievements, scoring the three new weapons, and playing on the cooperatively-focused Goldrush map can now log onto Steam and receive satisfaction.

Valve also notes that a worldwide Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend will begin on Friday at noon PDT, allowing access to the all the new content to anyone for a short trial period.
