God of War: Chains of Olympus Sweet, Short - Wired’s Review

The developers totally nailed the feel of God of War’s combat engine. Swinging Kratos’ massive chain-blades in dramatic arcs and feeling them rip through ancient Sparta’s mythic beasts on the portable PSP is every bit as tendons-in-the-teeth visceral as the home versions, causing Wired’s Chris Kohler to make the same sort of strange faces and grunts on the bus home as the crazy homeless dudes in the back seats.

Yes, Wii Can - The dangers of technology overload

Washington Post.com writes: ""This is all your fault," says my sister Claire in a voice mail. " You told me to move the Wii upstairs!" She hangs up. She has an uncanny way of getting me to call back quickly. I’m sitting here wondering what in the name of Super Mario Galaxy she is talking about.

Claire was the first person I knew to get a Nintendo Wii console game, two years ago, back when the system was introduced. I did not approve. I was a cranky old video game naysayer, a person who maintained, firmly, that my own children would not have their creativity thwarted, would not be tempted by the evils of pixel addiction that I believed virtual play on video screens to represent. It gave me something to feel superior about."

White PS3 rumours hot up

Queues may start forming outside US Circuit City stores by the end of this story, because fresh rumours indicate that ‘ceramic white’ PlayStation 3s are winging their way to the electronics giant’s stores.

According to unnamed sources at CC, cited by website Kotaku, employees have been taking in stock of a new model PS3 stamped with code "CECHH01”, which has previously been associated with the white PS3.

CC staff claim to have been told, presumably by Sony, to expect a new 40GB model without a free movie, suggesting the white PS3 will initially be offered in the 40GB capacity. It’s said the white PS3s will be held in stock until all remaining bundles comprising a 40GB PS3 with a Blu-ray copy of Spiderman 3 have been sold.

Sony took up its established “deny all” stance long ago, talking down rumours of a white PS3 in January, despite the appearance of documents filed by the company with the US Federal Communications Commission that seemed to suggest one was en-route to the US and Europe.

Sony’s PS3 poised to grab limelight this year

Reuters writes: "If 2006 was the year of the Xbox 360 and 2007 was the year of the Wii, 2008 is shaping up to be PlayStation 3’s turn in the spotlight, as it stokes demand in the $19 billion computer gaming industry with some hotly awaited game titles.

Exclusive PS3 titles like puzzle-solving, community-based game "LittleBigPlanet", production improvements that will give Sony room to cut prices, and the recent victory of its Blu-ray technology in the high-definition DVD format war, should drive demand for the games console."
